Despite the negatively-framed statistics and hurtful stigmas that exist, there are many stable individuals who are are maintaining a safe level of mental health in spite of a history of mental illness/mental health challenges. Skilled Not Ill is encouraging and increasing that population through 1-hour social events with a purpose.
Safe Spaces - We created a strong, positive social support system and sense of community where individuals who care about mental health can meet in person and be themselves.
Get out of the house, get out of your comfort zone, and make new friends for life. Feel free to talk or listen about mental health with others who won't judge you. Whether it's at a workshop or a group outing, we create opportunities to socialize and connect.
Skill & Chill Workshops* - Designed to accommodate busy schedules, this ongoing series of 60-minute micro-workshops highlights simple, effective strategies that can be incorporated into any individual's mental health management routine -- whatever that may be. Learn and practice a new skill each month in a light-hearted, upbeat atmosphere alongside open-minded friends. Maximum 10 participants per session.
We routinely bring people together in these small group gatherings and infuse positive vibes. We walk participants through easy-to-remember, easy-to-apply mental health and wellness skills that help with everything from confidence to communication to cheerfulness.
*Please note: We do not provide therapy or mental health treatment. Do not attend if you are feeling unstable.
Volunteer Together - Skilled Not Ill partners with local non-profits and community organizations on a regular, monthly basis to provide fun and healthy volunteer outings with groups of like-minded peers. We believe that community engagement and giving back through volunteering are two of the healthiest and most impactful ways to improve your mood!
Where to go: All events take place at our HQ inside 1635 Market Street in Philadelphia unless otherwise specified on the event page. RSVP required.
